About Eugene Woodward
A kind, well mannered & professional Tauntonian with a passion for the guitar. Eugene, educated locally through the Weirfield>T.J.S>Taunton School system and on to Richard Huish for A-Levels, is proudly celebrating his 35th year of being immersed & engrossed & therefore dedicated to the guitar.
A professional man in all aspects of life and now a responsible, married father has meant a shift of emphasis away from the stage, naturally progressing into a fuller teaching capacity these past 20 years or so.
Eugene has just recently retired as Head-of-Music at Dulverton Middle School teaching Key-stage 3 national curriculum, but still enjoys strong friendships and associations with many local schools, their headteachers and their students who he teaches on a self-employed peripatetic or private basis.
Eugene is also very proud of his historic association with Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College for 8 years in association with Taunton Music & Taunton Music Services. Eugene is also a multi-certificated long-standing RGT Registered Professional Guitar Tutor ; fully CRB/DSB checked, Child Protection Awareness NSPCC Certification & fully quality assured, offering London College of Music examination grade tuition & bespoke lessons across almost every style of music.
Eugene, has been largely self-taught through the late 80’s / 90’s in many different styles and therefore not the normal ascension through Music, but as a result, can bring a WIDE variety of skills and techniques to the table. Eugene has gained a frighteningly advanced Mastery of Rock, Blues, Metal & Funk Guitar (please see my Youtubes) and a unique skill-set that is home-grown and acquired from the stage. With a long history of Rock bands, backing such people as ELO in the nineties and associations with the best sound engineers, producers & recorders within the Industry – Whitesnake, Gary Moore & Deep Purple and then moving into regular & lucrative Function / Forces & Wedding band circuits in the noughties, Eugene has excellent communication skills and can play most things he turns his attention to and is willing and patient to explain all to the student – often pop, rock, blues, punk, metal, classical, ska, disco, funk, indie, dance, folk… > you name it & it most likely can be achieved very, very quickly for you & kindly & expertly explained.
I can play most things I turn my attention to and am patient in explaining everything in both an official syllabus capacity (RGT) and in one-on-one, private lessons.

I have a 100% RGT Grade Examination pass rate. 90% of those are Distinctions (85 marks & above) and the remaining 10% are Merits (75-84 marks out of 100).

- Modes/ Scales/ Patterns/ Shapes/ Chords/ Closing chords/CAGED system, Circle of 5ths, etc., etc.,
- Teaching you any song you’d like to master, I learn them quickly and teach them to you expertly, with learning materials created especially for you.
